THE SUPER GRADE FAMILY
Some time after a pistolsmith reaches the Master level, the desire to
demonstrate exactly how perfect he can build a pistol
surfaces. It happened with Bill Wilson, and regularly with
our veteran pistolsmiths. In the rarefied air occupied by
men with their skill, determination, patience, and vision,
Wilson Combat® offers the opportunity to demonstrate their
expertise. No restrictions are placed on the time required
for this select group of craftsmen to build our Super Grade
Pistols. We supply them with the superior components they
expect - precision designed, engineered, and manufactured
slides, frames, barrels, triggers, hammers – everything
necessary to hand craft a functional work of art in steel.
They
start with a slide and frame with overlapping tolerances –
they will not fit together. With practiced touch and
experienced eye these craftsman begin the hand filing,
lapping, and polishing that will result in a slide/frame fit
that is exactly tight enough for the uncompromised accuracy
and unfailing reliability they demand of the finished
pistol. With the correct fit of slide and frame
accomplished, they move to the selection and fit of the
parts to complete their project.
Fewer
than 15 Super Grades can be hand built per month. Those
fortunate enough to become owners of one of these
outstanding examples of what happens when good design meets
