Welcome to the Future of Everyday Carry: The EDC X9 2.0
Launched in 2016, the original EDC X9 quickly earned a reputation for blending classic 1911 ergonomics with modern carry-focused features. The EDC X9 2.0 builds on that legacy with a solid aluminum X-Frame, refined slide/barrel geometry, and the Enhanced Reliability System- delivering dependable 9mm performance, reduced recoil, and improved accuracy without sacrificing the clean lines and 1911 feel shooters love.

Launched in 2016, the Wilson Combat EDC X9 redefined the modern double-stack 1911 by pairing classic 1911 ergonomics with the performance today’s shooters demand. The new EDC X9 2.0 advances that legacy with a solid aluminum X-Frame, refined slide/barrel geometry, and an Enhanced Reliability System (ERS)- delivering high-capacity 9mm performance, improved accuracy, and reduced recoil while preserving the clean, 1911-inspired lines that have made the platform a favorite for everyday carry and duty use.
Key New Features:
The long‑slide EDC X9L 2.0 5" model is built for shooters who want maximum sight radius and velocity without giving up carry convenience. Its 5-inch stainless Tri-Top slide is topped with an adjustable Battlesight and fiber-optic front sight, while aggressive X-TAC serrations ensure a positive grip during reloads. The 5" stainless barrel and bushing are hand‑fit for a 1-inch accuracy guarantee at 25 yards. Wilson Combat’s Bullet Proof® thumb safety, hammer, and magazine release deliver reliable controls, and the black G10 Starburst grips with pewter medallions complement the Armor‑Tuff finish. Two 18‑round magazines (or 15‑round magazines without a magwell) provide ample capacity for range or duty use.

Balancing concealability with shootability, the EDC X9 2.0 4" delivers full‑size performance in a streamlined package. The 4-inch stainless Cone barrel, with reliability-enhancing lock-up and a flush-cut reverse crown, is housed in a Tri-Top slide featuring X-TAC cocking serrations and a heavy bottom chamfer. The high‑capacity aluminum X‑Frame is treated with an X‑TAC frontstrap/backstrap pattern for a sure grip under recoil. An elevation‑adjustable Battlesight and fiber‑optic front sight aid quick target acquisition, while Wilson Combat’s Bullet Proof parts ensure long‑term durability.

The EDC X9 2.0 3.25" Subcompact provides deep‑concealment capability without compromising capacity or shootability. It's 3.25‑inch stainless Cone barrel mates to a compact Tri‑Top slide featuring user‑replaceable red fiber‑optic front sight and X‑TAC cocking serrations. The high‑capacity aluminum X‑Frame uses the same Reliability‑Enhanced frame rails and X‑TAC frontstrap/backstrap treatment found on larger models, while the Bullet Proof thumb safety, hammer, and magazine release ensure positive operation.

The X-Frame
Engineered by Bill Wilson and the Wilson Combat team, the X-Frame is a compact double-stack 1911 foundation that delivers a 15-round 9mm capacity in a footprint similar to that of a traditional compact single-stack 1911. Precision-machined in-house from T6-7075 aluminum, the X-Frame accommodates a high-capacity magazine while maintaining a slimmer grip circumference, preserving traditional 1911 controls for intuitive handling. The dedicated EDC X9 15-round, double-column magazine was developed with Mec-Gar, an industry leader in magazine design, to ensure reliable feeding and long-term durability.
"The EDC X9 has been the most extensive design and development project Wilson Combat has undertaken in our 40-year history, and it reflects what the company has become today from our humble beginnings as a one-man gunsmithing shop."
- Bill Wilson, CEO of Wilson Combat.
Enhanced Reliability System (ERS)
Derived from the proven single-stack EDC 9 slide assembly, Wilson Combat’s Enhanced Reliability System (ERS) is explicitly tuned for 9mm 1911s to maintain exceptional function across varied ammunition power levels- even when heavily fouled or lightly lubricated. ERS pairs a Tri-Top slide with a user-replaceable front sight, a single-lug tapered cone match-grade 1911 barrel for secure lock-up, a rear Tactical Adjustable Battlesight for precise zeroing, and a rugged, user-serviceable external extractor for consistent extraction and long service life.
"During my extensive shooting of the EDC X9 during development and final testing, I have been very impressed with its functional reliability beginning all the way back to some of the early prototypes; this tells me the overall design is inherently very sound and I applaud our engineers and pistol smiths that worked so hard on this project."
- Bill Wilson, CEO of Wilson Combat.
