The .458 SOCOM was designed to fit the AR15 platform and is capable of pushing a 300 grain bullet to 1950 fps, generating over 2500 foot-pounds of muzzle energy. Due to the heavy recoil of this round, it is very important to use a firm crimp as bullets can shift within the case under recoil, which can cause feeding issues.
The .458 SOCOM has a rebated .308 style head configuration, necked down to utilize a .458" diameter projectiles. The 458 SOCOM takes a large pistol primer. Full-length resizing is recommended prior to loading.

Great Brass
Took me a while, but finally got the load running the way I want (340fn-1850fps). It's kind of like shooting a Howitzer. It doesn't 'kick', It pushes you back a long ways. I was full length sizing, but now neck only. Running very close to max pressure and the brass is performing flawlessly. My specs compare to 45-70 modern bolt gun. Will be getting more soon. Recommend
