Installation Instructions:
NOTE: For a semi-permanent installation you can use blue threadlocker on the screw threads.
Great fit and very easy install.
WC is not offering a plain bright white dot option on this front sight. It is the most simple effective option (and less expensive) for us older shooters. In my experience, the light pipe inserts, and colored metal inserts, are almost useless in low light conditions. The light pipe dot disappears in a darkened room or hallway. Instead of going to a tritium or florescent dot, why doesn't WC just offer a bright white dot instead? The most simple and cost effective solution for low light conditions. It also pairs nicely with a white outline square notch rear sight.
Much better sight picture with good visibility. I may also experiment with the green fiber optic and the brass dot front sight too -- depending on the conditions (indoors, target color, etc) one may work better than another. For my shooting so far, this red dot really makes a highly-visible and repeatable aiming point.
I like Wilson's replacement front sight for the Python. It installed quickly and easily and is much more visible to my aging eyes. However, I do wish Wilson offered a version of the front sight that is slightly taller than the factory sight. I have a 4.25" and a 6" Python and on both guns with the factory rear sight and the Wilson rear sight, I have to crank the rear sight all the way down to get my 158gr .38 and .357 loads to hit close to POI at 25 yards. Many other shooters have reported the same issue on the Web. It would great for Wilson to solve this problem for us!
I love fiber optic sights and I have several on my rotation guns. My Colt King Cobra looks great with them and they really upgrade the sight picture. As an old fart I don’t get out much at night and always carry a flashlight when I do so night sights aren’t really needed and FO sights just scream during the day. These sights seem well made and light up very well. My only complaint is they are sharp and pointy. They catch and grab my neoprene holster when drawing the gun. Though yes, I’d buy them again.
The fiber optic is nice. The factory and the Wilson combat sight are the same width; however, the fiber optic seems smaller in the rear sight window when viewed indoors(like at a range). The sight appearing smaller isn't a bad thing just be aware it will make you aim more a little more, and maybe a little better.
I changed front and back sites on My 3 inch Python.the red fiber optic fast to pick up in site window. The WC U notch site frames red fiber optic with ease.
