Top quality as expected of Wilson.

Posted by Thomas on May 27th 2026

I love the aesthetic of a Full Length Guide Rod on a 1911. The reason I got interested in 1911’s specifically was because of the looks. Recently I bought a Springfield 1911 Garrison 4.25” and it had the more traditional style capped plug for the bushing barrel. This Wilson Combat kit was a perfect drop in. I also bought their Shok Buff/Recoil Spring Kit for 4.25” as well, to go with this. Everything went in flawlessly. I would, however, recommend a bushing wrench if you get this kit, the open plug for the FLGR does dig into your thumb a bit if you try to be “Tool-less” like with the normal recoil spring capped plug.

    Drop in fit

Posted by Chris on Oct 13th 2025

Just dropped in my wc full length guide rod . Fits right in my Ruger commander . Without some range time and can’t say if any difference . With so many videos and forums of varied opinions , my only conclusion on choosing this was from a simple mechanical standpoint . All springs are designed with the principle that they are rated to a particular poundage when compressed in a straight line . This keeps them in that straight line . I don’t think that there will be any difference upon shooting with it , except a minimal amount of extra weight up front . But as most of us have probably shot guns with much longer barrels , what’s the difference ?

    Great improvement

Posted by Hoss on Jul 23rd 2025

I purchased 2 of these several months back and installed in my Ruger 1911 Lightweight Commander and in my Para Ordnance p13 45. I waited for awhile after installing them and putting approximately 1000rds through both pistols before writing this review. I can say with 100% confidence these FLGR's improved cycling and reliability. I have had "0" malfunctions that have been weapon related. Malfunctions I have had have been ammo related and that has been minimal. You hear comments that why replace the combat style rod as they were designed that way. Well, I can tell you, improvements can be made on anything that were designed a certain way. These FLGR's are a major improvement. Smother cycling, no spring binding and reliability improvements. I install FLGR's in every 1911 I have that didn't come with them.

    Sig Sauer Nitron

Purchased this full length guide rod with WC spring kit. What a difference it has made. The slide is so smooth now. It completely changed how the pistol shoots, for the better. Would highly recommend this to anyone with a 1911.

    Manditory Upgrade For Sig C3

    Posted by E. L. on Apr 18th 2019

I shower in Sig kool-aid every morning. And its hard to find fault with just about anything they make. However, a buddy commented that my C3 Talo 1911 was gritty racking the slide, once he pointed it out, it was like nails on a chalkboard to me. With minimal diagnosis, I figured out it was the flat recoil spring binding and popping past the tip of the short GI style guide rod. Knowing the quality of WC, I ordered this one piece guide rod, and spring kit 316C and installed them. The change is monumental. No subtlety involved, its an entirely different, buttery smooth, experience to rack the slide. For $30 I cannot imagine why anyone wouldnt make this upgrade to their SIG C3. NOTE - for other SIG C3 owners, if you order spring kit 316C, also order Main Spring P745CS-18, as our officer size grip is too small for the main spring in the kit.

    Ati Fx Gi

Posted by Chris Wood on Feb 27th 2016

Required fitting I had to file roughly 1/16 off guide rod and end cap to get clearance for barrel bushing to clear on my ATI fx gi commander 4.25 but once fitted Excellent function and appearance, matched with Wilson Combat 20# commander length recoil spring
