FAQ:
- Is the flat wire spring compatible with a full length guide rod? Yes-Only with the full length flat wire guide rod (#25GRFW). The inner diameter of the flat wire spring is smaller than a conventional round wire spring requiring a flat wire specific guide rod.
- Is a Shok Buff required? A Shok-Buff is optional on the 5” flatwire guide rod. It is not recommended for use on the 4” kit since it can reduce slide travel
- Can I shoot +P ammunition with this kit? Yes-since flat wire springs don’t lose their length over time like round wire springs they cushion your frame more effectively over time. Flat wire springs also compress in a more linear fashion which makes them more tolerant of a wider variety of loads and grips.

Best 1911 Recoil Spring I've Used!!
Some time ago, I swapped my go to 18.5 lb round wire recoil spring in my 5 inch Springfield Garrison .45 for a 17 lb flat wire spring. I got the flat wire guide rod and a new shok buff to go with it. I had put 200 rounds of .45 hardballs through my Garrison .45 with the 17 lb spring. While the recoil impulse was much smoother and more linear, I got 6 malfunctions out of 200 rounds. FTFs or FTEs. I was led to believe that the 17 lb flat wire spring was too light for a full sized .45 firing hardball ammo, so I decided to give the 20 lb flat wire spring a try. Couple weeks ago I put 100 rounds through my Garrison .45 and got one minor failure to feed, which I don't believe was caused by the recoil spring but rather residue from a degraded and worn reloaded .45 round my grandfather had left me. Last weekend I put 100 .45 hardball rounds through it again, this time with zero malfunctions!! Would absolutely recommend!!!

Great Quality
My 1911 a1 was stove piping and unreliable. I put this 20lb flat wire spring in with a full length guide rod and a shock buff. It went from a snappy unreliable gun to my favorite gun, super reliable and spring brings me right back on point for my next shot.
