FAQ:

  1. Is the flat wire spring compatible with a full length guide rod? Yes-Only with the full length flat wire guide rod (#25GRFW). The inner diameter of the flat wire spring is smaller than a conventional round wire spring requiring a flat wire specific guide rod.
  2. Is a Shok Buff required? A Shok-Buff is included but optional on the 5” flatwire guide rod. It is not recommended for use on the 4” kit since it can reduce slide travel.
  3. Can I shoot +P ammunition with this kit? Yes-since flat wire springs don’t lose their length over time like round wire springs they cushion your frame more effectively over time. Flat wire springs also compress in a more linear fashion which makes them more tolerant of a wider variety of loads and grips.

    WOW

I wanted to beef up the spring on my 45acp so I could shoot 450 SMC and Rowland in my 1911 GI. This spring totally changed the way the gun operates. If you shoot 1911 GI you know it's a very reliable barebones system with no nonsense going on. This spring has made the follow up shot so much easier and the gun almost feels like it has a break on it it's so smooth. Spend the 20 bucks on it and you won't be disappointed.

Best 10 Mike-Mike Kit For Sale!!

Posted by Sean Reilly on Sep 23rd 2023

GREAT SETUP FOR ANY OF THE Government-5" (10 Mike-Mike) Kimber's !!!..... Absolutely-100% Better Cycling! (With The 24 lb Flat-Wire Spring )Especially With "REAL 10mm Loads"!.....But With Regular "Range Ammo" I Switch To The 20 lb FWRS. ...... I Just Seemed To Have MANY To Many Failure To Feed With The "Stock" 18.5 lb KIMBER Round Wire Recoil Spring!!!... I Will State That You CANNOT!! USE ANY SHOCK BUFF ON ANY KIMBER 1911'S!! (Even With KIMBERS Guide Rod And Spring!!????) As Their Slide Stop Notches Are Cut Much SHORTER Than All Other 1911 Slide Stop That I Have EVER Encountered!!... Meaning With A "Shock-Buff" Installed, The ONLY WAY To Get The Gun To Chamber A Round Is To Basically Yank The Slide Back While Simultaneously Pushing Down On The Already Much To Tight Slide Release/Lock Lever!!???? On Top Of That Mess...Your Slide Will Fail To Lock Back When Empty!!.....That Is Of Course, If You Even Get A KIMBER 1911 (With A SHOCK-BUFF INSTALLED) TO EVEN FEED NORMALLY!!!..... What The Heck Are They Thinking ???? With That Slide Notch Placement!????......Especially With The 10mm Here In 2023!!???... I Want To Mitigate Slide And Frame Damage WHEN Practicing With The "Heavy Stuff" That A Shock-Buff Would Certainly Help! -Sean

    10mm Flat Wire Kit

Bought it on sale, actually paid. $15. Installed in my MK4 Delta Elite, wanted to go from factory dual spring setup to a single spring. Very limited use but everything ran great out of the box. Also some recoil reduction with a medium velocity handload. I wasn't sure I wanted to use a shock buff but should help preventing wear to slide and frame. I think it's good, reasonably cheap investment to get longer life out of a 1911
