I'm constantly researching, trying and testing new lubricants for firearms in a quest to find the very best products. As part of my research I learned that oils are primarily designed for "closed systems" such as gear boxes while grease is designed for "open systems" such as pivot points on machinery. The problem with using grease on firearms which are an "open system" is that the commonly available viscosity (#2) is too thick for use in most weapon systems. Further research enlightened me that grease viscosity ranges from 000 (slightly heavier than common oils) to 6 (candle wax) with 000 testing out ideal for most firearm applications. Working with a major petroleum company we ended up with an improved formulation of Utlima Lube Universal that stays where you put it and continues to lubricate longer than any oil I've tried. The AR-15 direct impingement operating system (especially when suppressed) is a terrible environment for lubricants, but the new Ultima Lube Universal does an admirable job."

1800+ Rounds, 0 Malfunctions
This week I wanted to test your new formula UNIVERSAL lube. We issued the students .22 rimfire pistols that I had fully cleaned and inspected and lubed with your new UNIVERSAL lube. All the pistols ran all day long for about 450 rounds each without a failure. At the end of the first day before the 125 point test, I inspected several of the pistols and they were still wet with lube. We did not add any lubrication before the test. We did the same process the second, and third day without adding any lube or cleaning the guns. By the end of the third day we had shot approximately 1800+ rounds through 13 pistols. That is 12 students and one instructor. There were 0 malfunctions due to lubrication.
