Controlled Chaos bullets offer the best of both worlds when it comes to ballistic performance. This bullet is optimal for use in 7.62x39mm Russian loads.

Please note that these are bullets (projectiles) only for reloading. This product is not loaded ammunition that is ready to use in a firearm.

There are two philosophies when it comes to bullets. One believes rapid expansion, moderate penetration, and weight loss are best, while the other believes that moderate expansion, deep penetration, and virtually no weight loss are best. Both have their virtues and applications, but why settle for one or the other when you can have both?

Controlled Chaos ® bullets offer the best of both. Once fluid is impacted, they shed the front portion of the bullet into multiple petals that radiate outward away from the bullets initial trajectory path resulting in a massive energy spike. The bore diameter base of the bullet continues and penetrates deeply in a straight line. Both the temporary and permanent wound cavity created by this bullet separation is dramatic resulting in quick incapacitation.  The solid base creates additional tissue damage and often results in full penetration of the animal.

The Controlled Chaos ® bullet doesn’t expand or fragment when it impacts hard barriers like drywall, only when it impacts fluid, where it expands, fractures, and does its devastation.

No other bullet on the market offers the accuracy and repeatable terminal performance of the Controlled Chaos ®.

Controlled Chaos ® bullets are currently available in the following diameters: .204, .224, .243, .257, .264, .277, .284, .308, .311, .355, and .358.

Solid copper Controlled Chaos ® bullets meet the criteria of states and jurisdictions calling for lead-free projectiles.

This bullet for the 7.62x39 combined with Hodgens CFE BLK is a game changer for this cartridge. My son killed his first deer with this combination.100yds, one shot drt.

    Great Bullet

Posted by BirminghamDeerHunter on Apr 27th 2025

Used these as my primary deer load this year despite owning many other stellar deer rifles. It performed great. Deer didn't run far. Massive damage. Great trajectory out to 200 yards and excellent accuracy. Very easy to work up a load.

    Identical Performance in 2 Deer

Posted by Miles on Aug 11th 2024

I used these last season after I had poor performance from a well known, long established competitor's x39 bullet that didn't expand in two deer the prior season. These were loaded to 2400fps out of a CMMG Mutant. They fed great, were accurate, and performed exactly how they were described to perform in 2 white-tailed deer (one at 50 yards, the other at just over 100 yards). Exits showed three separated petals with the base punching through. These will definitely be the bullets I use going forward.

    Very accurate, great projectiles

From a CZ527 carabine, when used with a fairly fast powder AR2205 (h110/4227): superb accuracy under 1moa @100m!! Excellent velocity and SD. Get some!

    Great Mosin bullet

Posted by Anthony M. on Jun 1st 2018

This bullet makes me wish I hadn't sold my M44. All the Lehigh bullets that are light for caliber deliver one thing where other manufacturers utterly fail to listen to the needs of the customer-a boat tail. I have no doubt these 123gr .311 will put a deer down on the spot. I have lots of experience with copper alloy bullets and with such a wide tip there is no doubt they will expand instantly, reliably and with devastating results, BUT one issue for me is that these bullets, if used in an AKM, will likely require modification to your bullet guide which I have had to very carefully do with a stone by hand as to not mar the trunnion. They cycle now, provided that you rack the bolt carrier vigorously rearward and let go fast, and of course they feed under normal operation. The bullet guide still marks up and dents the noses though. Before I filed it, they would jam and mangle the front of the bullets, which still held 2 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with iron sights. I just put an optic on my AK pistol and zeroed it, will shoot a group this weekend and post a review of my results. I do think that the design should be modified slightly that the tip is no wider than that of a conventional 7.62x39 hollow point, which may affect expansion even if you get 2500 fps from an AKM with Hodgdon CFE BLK. I do not think your money can possibly buy a better bullet for 7.62x54R though.

I use this bullet , with 45.0 grains viht . able to cut down barrel to 18 inches and still get 2800 fps . shoots flat mild recoil . makes a 100.00 dollar mosin into a whole different rifle . works well .

    Seems good so far

Posted by Clifford F. on May 10th 2016

I'm really glad you guys made these bullets. I'm getting over 2400 fps out a 16" AKM using AA1680. I would have given these 5 stars but the company has no test info on this projectile and I've not been able to shoot them into gel or take any game with it to see how it performs. I'd just like to see some ballistic gel results, maybe some load data. I worked up my own load but it took some time and I had no starting point so I likely wasted a few more bullets that I would have normally working up a load.
