Controlled Fracturing bullets are pre-stressed at specific points so that after a predetermined penetration depth, the razor-edge petals deploy, releasing an energy spike. This bullet is optimal for use in big bore rifle calibers such as .375 Winchester and .375 Ruger, among others.
Please note that these are bullets (projectiles) only for reloading. This product is not loaded ammunition that is ready to use in a firearm.
Lehigh Defense originated Controlled Fracturing Technology. These bullets are designed to deliver maximum terminal performance. Controlled Fracturing bullets are produced from solid copper and are pre-stressed at specific points so that after a predetermined penetration depth, the razor-edge petals deploy, releasing an energy spike and then separate and radiate outward from the primary path of the bullet. The bullet shank, now back to bore diameter, continues penetrating straight and deep along the initial impact path.
Unlike traditional expanding bullets which mushroom and dramatically limit the bullet's penetration and provide only one wound path, Lehigh Defense's Controlled Fracturing ammunition creates an initial energy transfer, multiple wound paths, and a deep penetrating base with a sharp front cutting edge for extreme terminal performance.
I consider the Controlled Fracturing to be the ULTIMATE self-defense bullet and the 9mm 115 grain Controlled Fracturing is what I carry daily.

Controlled Fracturing bullets are currently available in the following caliber diameters: .308, .355, .357, .375, .400, .451, .452, .458 and .500.
Solid copper Controlled Fracturing bullets meet the criteria of states and jurisdictions calling for lead free projectiles.
I tested these slugs in my 375 Raptor. At 100 yards I regularly clover leaf them. As far as performance I haven’t shot game with them yet. I did however shoot five gallon buckets filled with water. At 100 yards they went through 15” of ballistic jell and two buckets placed end to end. Never recovered the slug.
Shot a 520 pound pig, it was a close broadside shot, pig ran about 15 feet before tipping over. Looks like bullet started opening once it hit fat creating a huge entrance wound through ribs. Lungs were full of fragment paths. Bullet excited through ribs. I will continue using these bullets in my Contender chambered for 375 Winchester as they are furious in terminal performance in a mild cartridge.
185gr .375 controlled fracture is grouping really nice at 150yards and chrono of ~2300fps. I could load hotter but like this. Rifle is T/C encore, .375win, 26" barrel, 1:12 twist. The recoil is nice. Where I hunt mule deer each year shots are 45-110yds and .375win with lead bullets worked great. Hope to repeat success with lead-free. In CA we have to hunt with lead-free statewide starting Jul19. I like wide metplat .358+ bullets. I going to try lead-free .375win this fall. Paper ballistics looks good. . . .I think 185gr lead free Lehigh option is a nice fit and will open up at lower .375win velocities and close range. . . .
