Caliber Notes: The 6.5 Creedmoor is a top choice of precision rifle competitors and hunters looking for the optimum AR-based extended range rifle cartridge. It makes ultra long range shooting an easy proposition and offers similar long range trajectories to a .300 Winchester Magnum with less felt recoil than a comparable .308 rifle. The high ballistic coefficient bullets loaded in the 6.5 caliber make this downrange performance possible because they have less wind drift and more retained energy than a comparable .30 caliber bullet at 1000 yards. When seeking the best extended-range shooting or hunting performance in an AR platform rifle the 6.5 Creedmoor is the logical choice. With a wide variety of quality factory ammunition available and .308 AR magazine and receiver compatibility, the 6.5 Creedmoor is in a performance class by itself.

M5 Aero Upper and lower. Velocity is 2543 fps for a 10 shot average on a 64 degree day out of ammo listed at 2600 fps. Faster than my Ruger Predator.
The accuracy of this 24" 6.5 Creedmoor barrel which has the same contour as my Wilson 20" .308 Winchester barrel doesn't come close to the accuracy of the Wilson .308 Win. barrel. The 24" Creedmoor barrel does have the velocity with 142gr bullets but it would be a challenge to consistently hit a large orange at 100 yards. My guess is that the dwell is too long and this barrel might benefit from a rifle +2" or +3" gas system. Just a thought.
First three shots are MOA with inexpensive Hornady American Whitetail Ammunition, and a 7x scope at 100 yards. People do not realize that it is NOT easy to make an AR10 platform shoot consistently MOA vs an AR15 platform. Lots more vibration, and stress. I built a rifle with inexpensive Aero receiver, and a good trigger, and most importantly, THIS barrel. I could not be happier. I wish Wilson made a 24" .308 barrel, or even a 22" version. Since they do not, I will use their 20" .308 barrel. Buy with confidence.
I got this barrel with high hopes of a great shooting AR10. Man did I underestimate the potential of this great looking barrel. I decided on using several different manufacturers, I still haven’t got past the first one I tried 140 Sellier & bellot, FMJ BT. .5 moa groups at 100 yards. I would definitely recommend this barrel to anyone interested in a AR 10 build or just a barrel swap. You won’t be disappointed.
Bought this 6.5 Creedmoor barrel a couple of years ago for a build. I used Aero Precision Upper, Lower, and BCG. After sighting in I took it out to 300 yards and put two five round groups at 1.5 inches. That's 1/2 MOA!!! Better than my Ruger Precision in the same caliber. And that was with off the shelf ammo!!! I've done half a dozen builds with the above mentioned manufacturer's components, but this is my first Wilson barrel. Totally blown away!! I'm all Wilson from now on.
0.5 MOA group with 0.35 AMR at 100 yards. Was consistently hitting targets at 600 plus with 140 BTHP.
The barrel itself seems flawless, just know that you get NOTHING with it. No break in recommendations, no stickers! Not even a receipt!
Received barrel about a week ago and finally got to shoot it today. The accuracy of this barrel is amazing. First 5 shot group yielded 0.41 inches (0.39 moa) at 100 yards with Hornady 147gr ELD Match. Wilson Combat is my go to.
I purchased one of these barrels and the recommended gas block about 3 months ago. After testing a number of brands and bullet weights, Hornady 143 grain ELD-X ammmo was the most accurate. Three other brands were very close also. This barrel will shoot just under a 3/4 inch group at 200 yards. Yes 200 yards. Superb bolt action accuracy from a semi auto. Im more than pleased with the accuracy of this barrel.
