If you're looking for improved control and comfort while shooting, the drop-in beavertail grip safety is perfect - it eliminates any discomfort or hammer bite that can come with stock grip safeties. Plus, to return your gun back to its original state, just reinstall the factory part! Our drop-in safety works great with commander style hammers and bobbed spur hammers alike; because of slight variations from one pistol to another, however, minor modifications may be needed in order for proper operation.

Springfield 1911 A1 mil spec
Springfield 1911 A1 mil spec was not quite a drop in for me on this 30 year old plus 1911. Had to file down a few places to match OEM beavertail part. This new part feels SO MUCH better and doesn't bite into my hand like the OEM downward pointing beavertail. It was my first parts swap on a 1911 and took a while since I was replacing multiple parts. I am mechanically inclined and can follow YouTube vids so was able to fit this after some filing and fitting. If you are going to do this yourself, do the research and set aside enough time to do it right and don't rush it. Fitting takes some finesse and patience as you take off some material, reassemble, disassemble and polish other surfaces to make it fit nicely. The end product is worth the effort. I love my old school 1911 with the new updated parts. Better than buying a new gun and is was a fun project. Wilson Combat never fails to deliver.

Real drop in
I have Colt goverment 01911c 70 mark IV in 45 acp. Beaver tail dropped in perfectly without tuning. Need to change hammer to WC commander also paired without need for any gunsmithing.

Colt series 80
Very impressed with how easy this was to install on my Colt. It is truly drop in on a series 80 with no fitting required.

Doesn't fit Tisas Tank Commander
This did not even come close to fitting a Tisas Tank Commander in 45. The thumb safety hold didn't line up, and the stock dimensions of the frame are different.

Good Part
9 out of 10 times, I would say to leave the "drop-in" parts for Glocks instead of a 1911. That said, this is a good exception. I decided to try one of these on my current production 5" Colt. With a few quick touches of a file, it went right in. The fit / finish between the pistol and the new part is not quite the same as a gunsmith fit Bulletproof one, but it still looks good. If you own a Colt or Springfield, it appears those are the brands this part is meant for, based on photos I've seen of it being installed on various 1911s. Mine functions just fine and with a commander hammer (you'll need one), it really offers a nice new look without breaking the bank. In fact, my Wilson Retro Commander hammer didn't even need very much filing at all. Depending on your experience with working on guns, it won't take you very long to do the modification at your personal work bench either. Just make sure you have a good place to set your small parts while doing and disassembly. Worth a try!

Good Part!
I bought one of these for a stainless GI style 1911. With only a few quick touches of a small file, it went right it and although not the same as a full fit "bulletproof" version, this one actually looks like a pretty good fit. I'd buy it again.

Looks great on my RIA M1911 gi FS 45acp
Nit quite a "drop-in" part on my particular 1911 but my gunsmith did a little fitting and it functions flawlessly. And looks great!

Does not fit new delta elite
Bought it for the drop in aspect but it doesn't match up with this pistol. The cut at the beaver tail is more square and leaves a very large gap between the round frame and safety. Still a great product, just doesn't work on my elite.

Not drop in. A nuissance to install.
For a series 80 gold cup this has been a battle to install. Thought I had it set up perfect and I discovered a slight angle to the trigger press negated the safety. There are many surfaces that need to be filed to make this fit. I should make a video on how to fit one of these because I have learned so much. Now I'm disgusted to see they are out of stock. I could scream. Buy two and return one if you get lucky.
