With the High Ride Beavertail Grip Safety, you can enjoy improved comfort and control of your 1911 handgun.

With the High Ride Beavertail Grip Safety, you can enjoy improved comfort and control of your 1911 Auto. This is possible due to its design that positions your shooting hand closer to the plane of the bore while evenly dispersing recoil across a wide rounded surface for an exceptional experience every time. Our High Ride Safety is designed for your safety, with a raised Posi-Release tab that allows you to quickly disengage the grip while serving as an anchor point so that you always keep the same grip. Additionally, the top of this feature features a hammer pocket which allows commander or bobbed spur hammers to nestle into it when cocked and remain snag-free during drawing.

To install a Wilson High Ride beavertail, the frame must first be carefully cut. Fortunately, our fitting jig attaches to the hammer and thumb safety pin holes so that you can precisely file down your weapon without overcutting it. When done correctly, only a few thousandths of an inch should remain for final adjustments to ensure perfect alignment. To make sure you get everything right on your very first try, complete instructions are included with every purchase!

  • Blued carbon steel
  • High Ride grip
  • Frame modification and refinish required
  • Not designed to work with series 80 Colt pistols
  • For best results, use our fitting jig, part #402

DISCLAIMER: This Wilson Combat 1911 part will require fitting for optimal function. We STRONGLY RECOMMEND that all modifications needed for this part be installed by a professional gunsmith. Self-installation is NOT recommended and could potentially cause damage to the firearm or yourself.

    From Low-End To High-End

Posted by Anonymous on Feb 16th 2015

Recently bought the beavertail grip safety for my low-end Tisas 1911 A-1. Be prepared for serious gun smithing on any low-end 1911s for the DIYs. This was my first time doing this and if you buy the fitting jig you cannot go wrong. You may also have to do a bit of filing on the trigger lever on the safety, but the end result is completely amazing. I will be buying the same parts again for my second 1911.

    Piece Of Art

Purchased this safety for a Build I am working on, along with the fitting Jig, and the top notch customer support this fit perfectly. Honestly I could not be happier, it gives you a very positive disengage when you wrap your hands around the grip due to the raised part of the safety. Also puts your hand a little higher up on the frame, this gives you a very stable feel when firing your 1911. I will build all 1911s from now on with this safety.

    Fitted Vs, Drop In

Posted by David Hope on Dec 6th 2010

I installed a Drop In Beaver Tail Grip Safety on a Remington R1 1911. I wasnt pleased with the gap. I ordered the Beaver Tail Grip Safety Fitting Jig and this safety. I followed the easy to understand directions included with the Jig and 30 Minutes later, a perfectly fitted Beaver Tail Grip Safety. Fitting the function of the Safety was a Piece of Cake.
