Caliber Notes: Created by Bill Wylde, .223 Wylde is the perfect solution for those looking to experience both accuracy and reliability. It combines the benefits of a match .223 Remington chambering with the dependability of high velocity 5.56 NATO spec ammo due to its tighter throat than 5.56 while still being able to utilize standard military ammunition as their case dimensions remain unchanged.

I am very happy with this barrel. Most folks write a review based on Sub-MOA capability at the range. This review is based on experience in the field hunting. I have gone to Wyoming the last 4 years to hunt prairie dogs. Each hunt was 8-10 days in length. My primary weapon of choice is a Wilson Combat AR-15 using the .223 Wylde Urban Sniper 18" barrel. I have killed over 4000 prairie dogs in the last 4 years with longest shot recorded at 423yds. This barrel is accurate and can take the abuse of heating up in a target rich environment. I highly recommend this barrel.
I was wrong bought one of these barrels and then sent a bad review because installing the barrel nut and then not being able to remove it I had blamed on the barrel extension and I do think the pin was a little too tall and got caught on the interior of the barrel nut but could have been the problem. Ruining my upper by the way I am willing to admit it could’ve been from over talking besides all that. after getting all that straightened out using a bore camera before I shot it and after I shot 50 rounds pretty quick through it there was barely a 1 inch mark of copper in one spot in that barrel it was amazingly smooth inside and you can tell After shooting and checking with the horoscope Out of the three major brands of used this is by far the best for maybe $25 more
This is the 2nd WC barrel I have bought and it’s hitting outside it’s weight class. I loaded 50 random rounds into magazines to break in the barrel, even though it’s supposedly not necessary. 4 types of hand loads with different weights and powders spec’ed for other rifles and I can’t remember how many brands/weights of factory rounds. I could cover all fifty shots with a quarter (except for 5 flyers, probably my fault lol). Holy smokes!
I was really hoping for easy peasy load development with this barrel. Have shot 62gr Speer Gold Dots, 75gr Speer Gold Dots, 75gr Hornady BTHP, 73gr ELD Match. AR-Comp, 8208XBR, CFE223, Power Pro Varmint, Ramshot TAC, CCI#41, WSR, GM205M primers. Tried lots of combinations and finally found a consistent SUB MOA load. Would have given 5 stars if load work up didn’t take so many components. I would consider another Wilson Combat barrel in the future if the price was right. But Odin Works comes with a gas block and gas tube; and my load Development was quite a bit easier. The barrel looks great and machining is top notch. Did shoot a 1” group at 200yds today 1/31/2023. 160 rounds through it to achieve this.
Do not buy barrel extension clocked wrong material they used way too soft pan extend it too much there is nothing about this product I would endorse that’s why there are no reviews from the past two or three years because it is junk it’s ruined my upper my gas tube my everything I now have $500 worth of shit Unusable shit
Bought this about 6 months ago for a long range .223 AR for coyotes...using freedom munitions 60g vmax shots 5,6,7,8,9 out of a new barrel gave me a 3/8 group at a 100 yards..due to unfortunate circumstances like the superlative arms gas block touching the handguard I havent been able to use it in awhile, while waiting for a new gas block to arrive for it! Best barrel for the money after 100 rounds out of it even with the block touching the handguard
Only one range trip so far, but this is a fine example of quality craftsmanship. Just like the Wilson match barrel for my 1911, this barrel is a tack driver. 1" 30 round group at 25 yards with m193 ball ammo. A three shot group was clover leafed, so I kept shooting. I need to pick up some match ammo, but I have no concern about accuracy.
Excellent fit and finish. It is easy to tell that Wilson Combat takes pride in their workmanship. I have paid much more for less quality. I built a non traditional SPR style rifle using this barrel and it outshoots all but 1 of my bolt guns and runs a very close race with it. Bottom line is that this barrel exceeds all expectations I had and has quickly became a favorite. As for Wilson Combat they are an extraordinary company with stand out quality and customer service. Thank you Wilson for another awesome product.
